18. HÉLÈNE BAUTISTA: “MANN'S PROJECT“

 

Sèrie d'estampes calcogràfiques guanyadora del concurs "Hommage à trois", categoria "Thomas Mann" (2025) 

Conjunt d’imatges, com fotografies de família, unificades pels tons blaus i freds, que remarquen la tristesa i la distància entre els diferents personatges, on ressalta inequívocament Thomas Mann.

Hélène Bautista és una gravadora i professora de literatura, les seves obres estan molt lligades als escriptors i l’escriptura. El 2025 va guanyar el 1r Premi en la categoria “Thomas Mann” del 6è concurs d’art gràfic “Hommage à trois” amb l’obra Mann’s project.

 

 Esbossos preparatoris de la sèrie

Thomas Mann va ser un escriptor tan brillant que, sense prentendre-ho, va eclipsar la carrera científica de la seva dona Katia; la literària dels seus fills Erika i Klaus i la musical del seu fill Michael. Vides frustrades i tristes, que van portar al suïcidi a dos dels seus fills.

17. RACHEL SINGEL: “THE SWAN'S NEST“

Aiguafort en coure sobre paper fet a mà guanyador del concurs "Hommage à trois", categoria "Hans Christian Andersen" (2025) 

L’ou, símbol de la vida, en un niu de branques seques, la bellesa del qual és indicativa de la meravella que és a punt de manifestar-se. Aquesta és una proposta simbòlica dedicada al conte “L’aneguet lleig” de H. C. Andersen.

Rachel Singel és una gravadora i professora de la Universitat de Louisville, on experimenta amb el paper fet a mà i els additius naturals. El 2025 va guanyar el 1r Premi en la categoria “H.C. Andersen” del 6è concurs d’art gràfic “Hommage à trois” amb l’obra The swan’s nest.

Hans Christian Andersen, en el conte L’aneguet lleig, explica a manera de faula que ser diferent comporta dificultats i que en superar-les i acceptar-les produeix beneficis. A l’inici del conte descriu l’ou com a sospitós, ja que és més gros que els altres i necessita més temps d’incubació.

“In Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Ugly Duckling, a mother duck sits on her nest, waiting for her eggs to hatch. One by one, the eggs crack open, but a larger egg remains unhatched, seemingly reluctant to break. The mother duck worries about this "uncooperative" egg, believing it might be a turkey's egg. The egg left in the duck's nest symbolizes the importance of inherent potential and the power of individuality, regardless of one's outward appearance or environment. The egg's eventual transformation into a beautiful swan signifies that true worth lies within, not in one's surroundings or the judgment of others.” (Rachel Singel)

16. BERNHARD COCIANCIG: “THE CARRIAGE ACCIDENT AT SANDITON”

Imatge que, com una instantània, captura el moment en què es produeix un accident, descrit a l’inici de la novel·la “Sanditon” de Jane Austen .

Bernhard Cociancig és un gravador que experimenta en noves tècniques. El 2025 va guanyar el 1r Premi en la categoria “Jane Austen” del 6è concurs d’art gràfic “Hommage à trois” amb l’obra The carriage accident at Sanditon.

 

Desgreixador de pantalla  

Jane Austen, en la novel·la inacabada Sanditon, narra amb gran precisió i dinamisme l’accident d‘una diligència:

 

 Procés d'insolació  

"The accident happened just beyond the only gentleman’s house near the lane — a house which their driver, on being first required to take that direction, had conceived to be necessarily their object and had with most unwilling looks been constrained to pass by. He had grumbled and shaken his shoulders and pitied and cut his horses so sharply that he might have been open to the suspicion of overturning them on purpose (especially as the carriage was not his master’s own) if the road had not indisputably become worse than before, as soon as the premises of the said house were left behind –expressing with a most portentous countenance that, beyond it, no wheels but cart wheels could safely proceed. The severity of the fall was broken by their slow pace and the narrowness of the lane; and the gentleman having scrambled out and helped out his companion, they neither of them at first felt more than shaken and bruised. But the gentleman had, in the course of the extrication, sprained his foot; and soon becoming sensible of it, was obliged in a few moments to cut short both his remonstrances to the driver and his congratulations to his wife and himself and sit down on the bank, unable to stand.”
